That's a very cool pic Brian. I took this shot when I took my 70 to the Super Chevy show in Michigan in 2004. Looking back, I should have waited a little longer for the daylight to be gone, and brought the car farther out into the parking lot, but still a cool pic.

Ordered in December and picked up by owner second week of January. Still has the flat reverse tail light and the chorme piece under the headlight bezel.

Thats a really nice picture Tom. I remember when I met you at Super Chevy in Martain, MI
I still had my red LS-6. I've eaten at that place a couple times.

Our 70 was built at the Leed's plant on Oct 2,1969. Like Luis's car above it has the early items. We will be celebrating the 40th Anniversary all year with a Gold 40th Anniversary license plate frame. We have only had this car a little over 2 years, but have driven it more than we drove our old 67 Corvette in 19 years. We love this car and it will probably make a second trip to Chevellabration again this year. I wish we would have gotten into these earlier, and to think we almost bought a '68 Camaro. Here is a picture of Gobi: (daughter's name: AMANDA * car's name: GOBI)

I bought both cars in 2002, about 3 weeks apart! It's a long story, but I was looking for a fathom blue/white LS 6 and there was nothing on the market, then. Rick Nelson convinced me to buy the coupe, which at the time was a forest green/dark green Leeds built LS5 with the #'s drivetrain (but with 3.73 gears) and docs. Three weeks later the convertible appeared on the TC classifieds. I couldn't resist. It was orginally an Oshawa built SS 396 black cherry coupe with M21 (from GM Canada documentation I received) that was first sold in Nova Scotia. Four owners before me, while it was still in Nova Scotia, "back-halfed" it into a vert and sold to an unsuspecting Nova Scotia buyer who thought he was buying an orginal vert. He sued, but lost, and sold it to the guy I bought it from, George Brown. Goerge hauled it across Canada to Calgary and completed a nuts and bolts frame off and added the LS 6 motor with an M22 along with just about every conceivable option available, from power windows, door locks, trunk release, seats, washer fluid monitor, seat back releases, etc, etc, etc. I've had the convertible repainted to correct some stripe issues and had the M22 rebuilt, replaced the 3.42's that were in there when I got it, with 4.10's. That's about it .

The coupe, however, is a whole other matter! The first winter we had it, my son and I detailed the engine compartment, including pulling the block and re-doing everything, stock. It looked pretty good for a couple amatuers, but the paint was in pretty bad shape and I never really cared for the greens and now was a father/son project with lots of sentimental value. So in '04, it got shipped to Micky Hale for a pretty much stock frame-off - but with a change in color to fathom blue/white and trying to get as much hp from the #'s 2 bolt block as possble. It took until '07 to complete the project due to a host of sheet metal issues. The floor, inner wheel houses and trunk pans, from the toe kicks to the rear bumper had to be replaced. I never suspected it was as bad as it was. After it was done, I started getting nervous about the #'s block, M22 and 12 bolt, so we decided to go ahead and replace everything with a full complement of performance parts. All of the numbers matching components that were removed, were boxed up and shelved. It now has a Mike Lewis built 555 solid roller motor, G Force 5R tranny and a Strange 9" with 3.00 gears. About 800 fwhp. It takes about a day to get the smile off my face after driving it! :)

Except for the wheels (due to 4 wheels discs) and the engine compartment, it looks pretty much stock, inside and out. I didn't want to abandon its roots completely, since ethat's why I wanted the car to begin with. So, imo, it's now a "resto mod" coupe. The interior pic above is of the coupe. It looks almost identical to the vert, except for the additional aftermarket gauges and shift light needed for the coupe.

Sorry for the long winded stories.

Thank you guys for the comps about the car.

Yes - I do need help with the size of the pics. That was my second attempt at posting pics. The first one's were smaller. When I upload to photo-bucket, they are 800x600. I tried to resize there but only got them a little bigger. What size do you upload?

Here it is the last week of October, 2010. It was exactly 41 years ago this week I walked into my Chevy Dealer to trade my 69 RS/SS Camaro and ordered a new 70 Chevelle SS which was delivered in early December, 1969. Here's a picture from 1971 at my brother-in-law's wedding. That Champaigne Gold machine was without a doubt the best daily driver I have ever owned. Had to trade it in 1973 for a family car (boring) as my daughter was on the way.

Thats really cool Don!
I was 10 years old when I saw a young lady in my neighbor hood driving a gold 72 SS Chevelle. Thats when I fell in love with the Chevelle. I was 25 when I bought my first 1970 in 1987.

Gotta love the 70. Got my first 70 when I was 17 in 1985. Told a friend I wanted a convertible Chevelle. Didn't care what year or model. Ended up with a LS5 vert.
