I need to build a body cart out of wood this weekend, does anybody have dimensions or plans for one?

I hate to do this but...

I removed the pictures from that thread. If I find some old ones I will add here.
The dimensions were to fully utilize a 10' 4"X6".
I found that when I went to use it you will also need some blocks on the corners.
Good luck.

Thanks Alan. I thought about just sitting it on 4x4s in my car trailer but getting it on and off will be a pain.

Here is one of the car on the dolly. It will give you some perspective of size. The cart I built would handle much more weight than is on it.

that's pretty simple. how much wood did you use?
oh nevermind, I read the thread you posted :)
I'm hoping the body will take up less space in the garage if I can move it around. I need to get the healey inside my 2 1/2 car garage, along with the convertible and the Buick :)

I built the body cart frame today using 4x4s and L braces and the instructions above, I am going to Northern tomorrow to get casters then it is body off time.

Well the body is off but was not as easy as the 2 crane 4x4 cinder block method, I used the 1 crane and chains to seat belt holes. The body swung more and was not balanced or as controllable.
The body is on the cart but it did not balance very well. I put 4 cinder blocks on the floor and it balanced. If it wasn't a bare shell this would not have been a problem.

Nice dolly, Alan. Looks simple enough. I'm getting ready to take down my pool deck this spring, so I am going to have 4x4s o'plenty. Do you think it would balance better if the doors were still on it?

Yes, the weight of the doors will help.

I modified my cart today, I made the side 4x4s 8' long and mounted the wheels on 2x8s about 1'long lag bolted together. The rear wheels are now at the back so when the back weight forces down the wheels are far enough back it does not tip over.

So the 2x8's are in the back and sort of act like stilts because the rear is higher. Did I get that right?

No, the frame is 4x4s but they were not wide enough to mount the casters on (learned the hard way). I took 2x8s and lag bolted them into each corner and mounted the casters to them. The 2x8s reinforce the corners too. On the center cross bar that supports the body I put a 4x4 on top of it to meet the brace and lag bolted it togther.
