View Full Version : First Thread In BR ?
Well somebody has to start it off. Now that the holidays are almost over and everyone in middle and northern climes are entrenching for the long cold winter, what does everyone do to pass the time when not working? Yesterday I replaced the peanut butter in all my mouse traps and put fresh Bounce sheets in both stored Chevelles to hopefully ward off the dreaded mice. Never had a problem and want to keep it that way. Did catch a baby mole in one of the traps though once. Also continued to work on my SS's engine conversion from L78 clone back to L34. I love those Quadrajets.
Dammit while I was typing my "First thread in BR", Les had to go and spoil it by beating me by 3 minutes.
Bounce sheets, huh? Gotta do that.

I've been trying to get all the house projects done. So far I've replaced the porch roof with some newfangled rubberized roll roofing. Hopefully it will last longer than that 90lb asphalt garbage. I replaced the rub rail in the kitchen, and later I'm going to start a minor bathroom remodel (sheetrock the ceiling and repaint and replace the shower curtain, rugs and towels.
I also have to finish the application for kindergarten for our daughter that needs to be in by the 9th of January.
I've been trying to get to the cars but I'm not sure if I will. I need to put a new third eye in the Buick and replace the AC switches, and check the sway bar bushings in the Dodge

I have a few little projects I have been meaning to finish up. The shop needs to have the compressed air system finished. Have to put up some molding around the ceiling so the sheetrock doesn't sag. I really need to go through, throw out, and re-organize it....it's a mess. Then maybe I can start on some other car related things. The motor is coming out of the 70 sometime this winter for a refreshening, engine bay detail, and new torque converter for Music City Raceway next year :D. I have a bunch of things to do on my mom's Jaguar. I'll be busy for a while.

If I'm not working, I'm eating, sleeping, or reading Team Chevelle and now this site. I may have to give one of those other things up.:)
My car needs upper control arm bushings and a good cleaning before I can go anywhere in it, but I don't know when I'll be able to get around to doing that.
It's a bitch being lazy.:clonk: I gotta go back to work, fix a sunroof on a Saab. Back in a little bit.

I joined an indoor karting league to get my "racing fix" during the off-season... it seems to be working well to sharpen my skills, and learning to be smoother. We'll see how well this training transfers from a 150lb kart to a 3800lb Chevelle at the first autocross this spring.

SHE is having me clean out the garage.
I have the organizational skills of a 2yo, so this is a big project.---Filled 2 dumpsters so far.
Also pulling a Magnum engine from an old van---no fun---and along with it, every wire in the van has to come out.
Gonna have a lot of fun figuring this out, I am hoping to put the engine in my 82 Dodge short/wide with a slant 6.
Need to find someone to take all of the Auto Trans stuff outta the computer----I want to keep my 4spd OD manual
Today is for taking down all holiday decorations and storing for next year. Taking a break right now, after 3 indoor trees have been dismantled and 2 are put away. The third is a real tree and has to be sawed into pieces before I can get it out and burned. I hate this day!
Oh. And it's 17 degrees and snowing with a wind chill of -2. Outdoor stuff is next! :speechless:

Bah Humbug!! :laughing-rolling:
I hung three wreaths on the house this year...that's it! No freakin' tree or interior crap.
We weren't home for Xmas...a first and I hope to make it an annual tradition.

I hear you, Andy...un-decorating at my house also. Tree goes back in it's boxes (10'er), wife getting stuff off windows, shelves, etc., garage wreath will have to wait...too damn cold! Snowing to beat the band, windy, 14* and wind chill below zero. I'm pretty sure winter sucks already and it's barely Jan. I need to get out in the garage and work on the Chevelle but it's too nice right here next to the wood stove. Oh well, tomorrow is coming or mayabe the next day.....
I remember a few years ago when I got up on a ladder and put lights along the eaves of the house front, then put lights on shrubs, etc. No more. Now I put lights on one 7 ft Alberta spruce and that's it. Oh, and a wreath on the front porch wall and red bows on the 3 porch lights beside the garage doors. I took all that down the other day when it was a scorching 35 degrees. Took about 10 minutes. Took down the indoor tree too. It's all over for this year. I was in the grocery store today and they've already got Valentines Day crap out.
