I'm in the process of trying to buy new repro quarters for my frame-off '69 project. I've heard/read that the Golden Legions were of acceptable quality and were marketed by Goodmark. Does Dynacorn make an acceptable full quarter for a '69 Chevelle?

I bought my quarters from Ground Up. They fit as well as could be expected. They were made in Taiwan by GL. I also bought some parts from Goodmark. They fit as well as could be expected. They were made in Taiwan by GL. I think most Dynacorn stuff is Taiwan.
There are some American and Canadian manufacturers out there, but I think their products are limited.
I think there is some arrangement whereby Goodmark or Dynacorn get first quality stuff, everyone else gets seconds. I don;t know how much truth there is to that.
I do know that Goodmark and GU will stand behind their products.

You have to be careful when purchasing metal parts. There are good ones out there, as well as low quality rip off's of the good pieces. Dynacorn has a really nice 1 piece trunk floor that fits excellent, however, one got into the hands of another outfit and they made their own tooling from it. The ripoff piece is thinner metal and has some obvious flaws that make it a poor quality part.

I didn;t know that about the floor pans
I had a pretty lousy trunk dropoff once. I just tossed it and repaired my original

If you can find (and afford) GM quarter panels, I'd highly suggest going that route. We put Dynacorn quarters on my Chevelle and haven't been happy since the car was finished. We have GM quarters waiting to be put on.. just need to find the $$$ and time to do it.
With that thought in mind, has anyone ever seen NOS quarter panels without marker light holes? (They are not '68 panels).
Good luck to you!

Intresting. I have heard a lot of good things about Dynacorn quarter panels for 69. I will be needing a set for my 69 when that time comes as well.

Dynacorn is hit or miss, but they stand behind their stuff

My Dynacorn quarter doesn't look quite right at the door lip, can't do anything about it now but when it gets its next frame off in 10 years or so I will fix it.

was that a full quarter or a quarter skin? My skins took a bit of extra working to get right.

oh, one more thing, do you have a picture? It might be helpful to those contemplating repro quarters to see what sort of thing to expect

Here is my 72 and the gap. I did not notice the gap until it was pointed out to me on a judging sheet:

On my Gold 72 here is what ist should look like, these are factory panels:

I helped a guy install a pair of Goodmark full quarters on a '69 a few years ago. They fit OK, sort of. The gaps at the (orig) doors varied a lot up and down the gap. He fixed it by welding an 1/8" steel rod to the edge of the quarter at the gap, then grinding it to fit the gap and blending with filler. Turned out well.

One thing that commonly gets overlooked when putting full quarters on, is the alignment in the rear window channel area. I know that the 69 Goodmark quarters fit well, but had a small issue in that area where the tape wasn't right going up the side.
As far as door gap issues go, new quarters need to be installed with the doors hung and properly adjusted to the original quarters so that the new metal can be adjusted properly before it's welded into place. I learned the hard way myself on this  A quick way to check the gaps is to use a paint stir stick, they're the perfect width

I don't know that I can justify these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1969-CHEVELLE-SS-GM-NOS-REAR-QUARTER-PANELS-HARDTOP-PR_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2ea9b3e271QQitemZ200 415634033QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAcces sories I know this isn't the WIW, but what would be a good offer?
I'm gonna order the Golden Legions. My local supplier who represents both Goodmark and Dynacorn does not sell the Dynacorn quarters.
Thanks to all. I will post my experience with them later (maybe a month or so).

Mine were full quarters

Those ones you listed on Ebay are $400 cheaper than the pair I found locally on Craigslist. If I were doing a #1 restoration on a numbers matching car, I would probably go the NOS route and pay the $$ for them. Since all my cars are drivers, and I have a little bit of skill for working sheetmetal, I would go with the Goodmark quarters.

Thanks for posting those pics. Those do look off.
A lot of time, though, it's as much the installation as the panel itself. But, that upper part looks like panel to me.

It is going to be one of those things that is going to grate on me but I don't want to mess with it. Unless you are really looking at the car you can't tell it is off.

Installing goodmark full quarters on my 64 convert. For the most part the fit is good and lines up good. There not perfect but compared to the cost of original if they can be found it doesnt bother me.

I'm sorry to not have come back to this thread sooner. I bought the Goodmark quarters when my car was at another shop (the 2nd in this odyssey). I had a relative falling out with them before they were installed at that shop. I found my 3rd shop to install the quarters about a year later and it took a lot of work in the area around the taillight housings to make it look crisp. The person that did the work left some things to be desired and I am now on my 4th shop. Which is Dave Birdwell who has the car in Ft Wayne Indiana. I delivered it to him at Chevell-abration this year and hope to have it done by CB next year.
The pictures are after shop#3 installed the quarters. I will put together a build thread for both cars.
PS. The car Birdwell is working on is a factory Garnet Red car and I have another blue Malibu that I'm going to spiff up as a driver.
