I've always had a Black Lab as my best friend. My latest is now 7 years old and we have a ball together. Several times a week I take him down the road to the lake for his swimming fun. My daughter previously had a Boxer and then a Dalmetion and neither one could swim worth a darn.

I went with her three months ago to pick out a new Yellow Lab puppy. All she's talked about since then is to get him out swimming. This past week she's been taking him to a creek near where she lives to get him going. He will only wade out a bit at this time and will not actually get out and swim. That particular creek is always busy with people and their dogs swimming. He won't go out and fetch a stick on his own, but waits until the other small dogs (poodles, etc.) bring the stick back and then he steals it.

When she told me this I'm laughing my behind off. I keep ribbing her that she will have the only Lab in the world that can't swim. The pup is probably only about 3 months old and will obviously get things in gear. Not too often I get to put one on my 36 year old daughter and I'm loving it

Guess I'm just bored sitting here on a Sunday night waiting for the Hockey game to start so thought I would throw this on here for something to do.

Maybe you could get him a government job.

Canine companions can be a real joy, that's for sure. We just had our 2-yr old Pomeranian spayed and she hardly moved off her blanket for two days. We felt so sorry for her. Now she's back up playing tug-of-war and digging out her toys - all is good. :)

My son went back to school and we've adopted his yellow lab. She's two and is the most affectionate dog we've ever had! I can't get mad at her when she looks at me with those big soulful eyes! She's my constant companion. Of our 3 dogs, she's the only one who'll go out in the rain and not think twice about it. The only issue we've had is that she wants to play with one of the other two by biting her ears - playfully - but hard enough to do damage. The recipient has had two ear surgeries, so far, to allow the skin flaps to heal together from swelling! I think the vet called it hemotoma's? :frown:

I have two German Shorthaired Pointers..Brother and Sister..both 7..they cant wait for My Mothers pool to open..she lives next door and we leave the gate between the two properties open when we are outside and they go for a swim when they feel hot or whenever we go to the pool..my daughter has trained the male to jump off the board after his favorite toy..they are truley amazing animals full of love and compassion..unless you are a small furry animal running away from them:biggrin:..nothing in my backyard..even the squirels have left:biggrin:
