Ok I guess i'll be the first to post here,
I have a 69, was painted in 98, its in excellent shape, but with time It has a small paint bubble next to the trunk lock, that broke open this fall. how hard to fix? I'm not a body guy.

I'll post a pic tomorrow

If you have some paint leftover from it, it's not hard at all to fix. What you need to do is clean the area as good as you can with some wax & grease remover, very lightly sand the area where the chip broke off with some 600 grit and apply the paint with a fine tip brush. If you don't have any paint from the car, find some place local that carries Testors model paint and see if there is a close match and use that. If you want a perfect repair, you're going to have to pull the trunk lock, repair the area with primer, and repaint the whole panel.

I'm not a paint guy, but I would check first that it is a "paint" bubble and not a "rust" bubble.

There are 2 things that can cause a paint chip in that area...rust is one of them, the other one is installation of the lock itself. If you installed the lock, then had to removed it for some reason, 9 times out of 10, a paint chip will result. It won't always pop off immediately, I had a chip in that area on a car that appeared after several years.

Tom are you talking about the lacquer paint? Or enamel? Testors sells both.
