Sometime after the new year, I should have my fresh bored 454 on my engine stand.
Please steer me to the right bolts & gaskets to put this engine together right.
Know of any top rated full kits?
The rods already have ARP for the caps. I've got a windage/scraper to go in.

454 Marine block. 030 over
Cast Crank - 2 bolt mains
HV oil pump w/ welded pickup
Comp "Extreme Marine" Hyd. roller
Factory "thumb" rods w/ ARP bolts
forged small dome pistons floater pins.
Still shopping for an intake & carb for it.
781 iron heads w/ big valves, port work, roller rockers

I used ARP bolts on everything I could on my 454 except the intake manifold, the bolts they supplied weren't long enough. The only thing I've had to deal with in the past were the ARP head bolts coming in contact with the header flange. Simple fix though, grind a little off with a die grinder.
For gaskets, I just get a Fel-Pro Kit from NAPA, and a 1 piece oil pan gasket.

ARP bolts and Felpro gaskets too. Had the same issue with the head bolts and header but the grinder fixed that real quick.

Only part I would disagree with is the 1 piece pan gasket. I used one and never did get it to seal....but then again I was using an after market chrome oil pan.... so I should try another 1 day.

The ARP blot never caused me any grief with the headers either.

Chrome anythig is ridiculously tricky to seal. Your critical bolts can be ARP, but Pioneer makes an engine set for all the other stuff.

Another vote for new ARP bolts and Felpro gasket set.
